Planning Guide And Checklist For Your Webinar

Webinars often have a higher conversion rate from cold traffic to opt-ins than any other method.

They can also build the "like, know, trust, factor" more quickly because you are showing your personality and style, sharing content, and demonstrating your expertise/credibility.

But there is a lot more to having a successful webinar than just showing up in your zone of brilliance.

There are many "behind the scenes" activities that need to be implemented before, during, and after your webinar. 

Here's a checklist of the tasks I focus on:

2 Weeks Prior To Your Event:

  • Create your registration page.  Include bullet points about "what is in it for them" and the results they can expect after watching the webinar and implementing what you teach. Add a compelling image.
  • Create all social media posts with images. Double check spelling. Triple check the link to the registration page. 
  • Create a posting calendar so you know which posts you want to use each day on which platforms and what time you want them posted.
  • Create your "thank you" or "confirmation" page with the date, time, and link for the webinar.
  • Create your emails for pre and post webinar delivery

1 Week Prior To Your Event:

  • Start posting the posts and content you created every day for 7 days prior to the event.
  • Do a short video where you share a bit about what they are going to learn, what problems it's going to solve for them, and what to do next. Post this on one of your platforms each day starting at 7 days prior to event.
  • Emails should be going out to those who have already opted in. Emails sent prior to the event on Day 7, Day 5, Days 3, 2, 1.  Scheduled them as "broadcasts".
  • Set up the emails that will go out after the webinar. These will be for those who opted in and may or may not have attended. Be sure to include a call to action and the replay link in these emails.

Day Of Your Event:

  • Do a sound and view check on your webinar platform.
  • Review your slide deck.
  • Start your webinar 3-4 minutes prior to the event to make sure it's working. Welcome guests as they come on... ask a question for immediate engagement.
  • Watch the time - make sure you honor the time of those attending. 

24 Hours After Your Event:

  • Make sure you "after event" emails are going out as scheduled.
  • Check your webinar analytics for data.
  • Schedule your "encore" 

This is your path to having a webinar that gets people registered, attending, and taking action on the offer you presented.

Most of the steps have a bit more to them than I listed but my goal was to give you more of a checklist on what should be done when, not go into depth and explain each of the steps.

The webinar should convert some viewers to your offer. 

Your email sequence should increase conversions.
